North Carolina
This eastern state, also known as the Tar Heel State, Old North State, and The Rip Van Winkle State, is growing quickly. In the largest city, Charlotte, the banking and finance industry continues to be the major contributor, as it is home to Bank of America and Wachovia. Other major sectors of the economy include biotechnology and information, with most of the respective organizations located in Durham and the North Carolina’s capital, Raleigh.
