The Pine Tree State is the northernmost state of New England and is especially known for its scenic beauty.  Consequently, Maine has a large tourism sector as well as agriculture, electronic equipment, leather products and bio-technology.  Notable companies include L.L. Bean in Freeport, IDEXX Laboratories, and the world's largest mammalian genetic research facility, The Jackson Laboratory.
