    Sustainable Living Intern

Windward is focused on the hands-on study of practical, human-scale sustainability based on renewable energy, sustainable food production and passive construction techniques engaged within the context of community. For those who have a serious interest in living sustainably in the here and now, we're offering a 12 week, entry-level internship focused on renewable energy, sustainable food production, consensus-based community. We're especially interested in twenty-somethings with liberal art degrees who realize that climbing the corporate ladder isn't for them. We're practicing traditional arts such as organic gardening and working with wool on our 131 acre site, but we're also doing serious research on cutting edge systems such as aquaponics (growing plants and fish within the same system), the conversion of forest waste into car fuel and consensus based community. We're doing the groundwork needed in order for meaningful change to happen, and believe that there's no more radical act than building a working model of a better way, that showing is better than talking, and that building new systems from the ground up is better than trying to make bad systems a little less bad. If you dream of helping to create a joyful, sustainable life close to the land -- if you're the sort of person who sees the need for a viable alternative to the consumer world and is willing to pick up the tools and help build a better way, we'd like to hear from you.
