    Museum Classroom Assistant

    Purpose Museum Classroom Assistant volunteers assist Museum Instructors during classes offered for groups of students visiting the Museum on a field trip with their class. Museum classes offer engaging activities for students and chaperones that increase the children’s learning and enjoyment during their Museum experience. These volunteers will have the opportunity to directly impact the experience of between 50 and 100 students during one shift. Responsibilities · Follo w direction of Museum Instructors to assist in the setup, facilitation and cleanup for a variety of Museum Classes. · Assist with group arrival and departure procedures. · Provide customer service and interact appropriately with visitors. · Interact with children and all visitors in developmentally appropriate ways. · Convey a welcoming, positive and enthusiastic attitude to all visitors through verbal and non-verbal communication. Qualifications · Completed coursework in early childhood development or related field. · Experience working with children in a formal or informal education setting. · Excellent verbal communication skills. · Ability to work with groups of people and tolerate busy or crowded situations. · Ability to maintain a high level of energy during your shift. · Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Training Provided · Volunteer Orientation · Visitor Interaction Training · Assignment Training Shifts Available · Days: Wednesdays-Frid ays 8:45-12:00, 9:00-12:15, 11:00-2:00 or 11:30-2:30 Saturdays 9:00-12:00 or 12:00-3:00 · Frequency: Once a week or bi-weekly · Shift: Shift times vary
