    Homestay Program Assistant-Costa Rica

    Summer Job Opportunities Homestay Program Assistant Heredia, Costa Rica (June 25-July 28) We’re looking for a creative, energetic, athletic and mature individual to work with high school students at our homestay program Costa Rica. ASA’s Costa Rica program provides a unique opportunity for high school students to live, study, volunteer and experience Costa Rica in its real-life context. ASA’s Program Assistant spends one month of living in Costa Rica, working as a mentor to high school students who will be living with host families. Primary responsibilities include community building; supervising and chaperoning afternoon and evening activities, such as sports, cultural excursions, community service , outdoor activities and weekend overnight excursions; maintaining community standards and monitoring homestay placement. ASA ‘s program assistant lives independently of the students, with a host family. The Program Assistant must be able to establish relationships with ASA students and facilitate their personal growth during the program. The Assistant identifies student issues, communicates host family or academic placement concerns to the Program Director and handles administrative duties as needed. QUALIFICATIONS ? Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years post graduate work experience. Exceptional seniors will be considered. ? Fluency in Spanish and study abroad/work experience in Costa Rica required ? Experience working with high school students as a teacher, coach or in another related capacity required ? Demonstrated leadership experience building teams and managing projects ? Excellent communication and problem solving skills ? Willingness to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends and to be on-call for the length of the program ? Flexibility, enthusiasm and a love of Costa Rican culture and working with teenagers Salary Stipend plus room, board and travel
