    National Student News Service

    Media Internships—Available for Spring • Are you interested in media and journalism? • Do you think campus media could do a better job of serving students? • Do you wish coverage of student actions and activism was better? • Are you interested in playing a formative role in a lasting student media project? If so, please consider applying for one of a limited number of internships with the National Student News Service, an online effort to improve campus journalism nationwide. The National Student News Service (NSNS) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan student media project. We’re especially interested in producing and promoting stories that (1) apply national news to the national student body, (2) explore the things students are doing on campus and within their communities, and/or (3) are investigative. Students produce all of our content, and members of our staff decide their own news article topics. All of our interns read student newspapers and select articles for the NSNS to highlight, and all of our interns write news stories. • Outreach Director. We want many people to know and use our website—from student government leaders and student paper editors to journalism professors and administrators. Our outreach director helps increase our readership and importance. • Editor/Text. This intern ensures we’re at the top of our game, making certain our content is clear, informative, and free of errors. • Editor/Content. While all of our interns choose their own article topics, writers don’t always have a stash of brilliant ideas. This intern develops a running list of fallback article topics (and angles) on student movements, administrative trends, and legislative happenings nationwide. • Recruitment Director. Our recruitment director will help find and interview the next wave of NSNS staff. • Webmaster. This intern will run our website and maintain our Facebook pages. Please be prepared to submit a short (500 words) writing sample.
