    Friends of the Osa

    Founded in 2003, Friends of the Osa (FOO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with offices in both Washington, D.C. and Puerto Jimenez, on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. Friends of the Osa’s mission is to conserve the terrestrial and marine biological diversity of the Osa Peninsula. We implement our mission as an efficient, agile and self-sustaining organization that works in conjunction with partners to: (i) promote land stewardship; (ii) enhance the scientific understanding of tropical ecosystems and apply learnings to conservation; (iii) provide education and training for future generations; and (iv) enhance the quality of life for local communities living on the Osa.
